Sacraments
Baptism
The sacrament is celebrated on at 11:00am (English, every week) and 12:00pm (Spanish, 2nd Saturdays). Arrangements for baptisms are made by calling the Parish Office. Before a child can be baptized, there must be a founded hope on the part of the pastor that the child will be raised in the practice of the faith. This founded hope is given to the pastor by the parents or guardians of the child in establishing a parish as their home parish. To arrange for the baptism of your child here at St. Benedict, you must have established St. Benedict as your home parish for at least three months prior to making any arrangements. If you have just recently registered with St. Benedict, a letter from the pastor of your former parish stating that you are an active Catholic will suffice. Baptism preparation class is mandatory before the baptism and is held on the first Wednesday of each month. Call the parish office to register.
Reconciliation
The Sacrament of Reconciliation is celebrated on Saturday mornings 9:30am, and Wednesday evenings at 7:30pm for as long as needed, or by appointment. Two times during the year, usually in Advent and Lent the parish community celebrates the Sacrament of Reconciliation in a communal service.
Marriage
Arrangements must be made by contacting one of the priests at the Parish Office at least six (6) months prior to an anticipated wedding date. A number of Marriage Preparation programs are available to help you in your choice of each other and in the celebration of this Sacrament. At least one of the parties must be a Catholic in good standing, and must have established St. Benedict as his or her home parish for at least three months prior to making any arrangements. If you have just recently registered with us, a letter from the pastor of your former parish will suffice. If you are a Catholic in good standing and wish to use St. Benedict for the celebration of your wedding vows, call the Church Office for further information.
Anointing of the Sick
The parish offers anointing, please call the office. Emergency anointing is always available by calling the parish office (or 678-643-1782 for after-hours emergencies).
First Reconciliation / First Communion
These sacraments are celebrated according to the guidelines of the Archdiocese of Atlanta. For specific instructions and requirements, please refer to the Handbook of Religious Education found in the foyer or call the Religious Education Office.
Confirmation
Confirmation classes are a part of the tenth grade curriculum. The guidelines of the Archdiocese of Atlanta require that a teen must have been enrolled in Religious Education for two years preceding the year in which he or she wishes to celebrate the Sacrament of Confirmation. Those preparing for Confirmation will be offered six mandatory classes in the Fall of their tenth grade year. Times will be announced yearly. To arrange for confirmation sponsor for your child here at St. Benedict, they must be a registered, active member of the parish. If they are not members of St. Benedict, please provide a certificate of eligibility, or sponsor certificate, or a letter from the pastor.
