St. Benedict Middle School Ministry
The Edge Program
Our 6th, 7th and 8th graders participate in our EDGE program, from Life Teen. Edge is a Catholic middle school youth ministry program, providing a safe and fun place for youth to find a solid Catholic community, and experience Jesus in a profound and personal way. EDGE resources speak to the physical, psychological, cognitive, relational and spiritual maturation of middle school youth. The resources present Catholic teaching in a way that young people can understand.
EDGE meets two Sundays per month. We are over-capacity in our middle school youth numbers and will be making a change beginning in the 2024-2025 school year. All EDGE sessions will take place at Taylor Lodge on the grounds of St. Benedict campus.

Our Edge Objectives
6th and 7th grade: Our main objective is to create community amongst youth believers with fun, engaging, and moving content and speakers. The content and activities for these students change every year.
8th Grade: Youth begin preparation for their Confirmation during 8th grade faith formation (mandatory). Our focus during EDGE for our 8th graders will be to the Kerygma (the proclamation of the gospel message that all believers are called to share. It is the core message of the Christian faith).
EDGE youth brought pictures of deceased family members to class to add to our Dia De Los Muertos los ofredas altar. During that session we discussed suffering and death, as well as Hallowtide (All Saints Day, All Souls Day and All Hallows Eve). In addition, the youth made “scarecrow Saints” to be displayed at the annual Life Teen Hoedown.
Father Ben joined us to guide the youth in Eucharistic Adoration. We discussed the True Presence of Christ in the Eucharist, as well as what Adoration is, and our chapel, where they can encounter Christ personally in Adoration.
