Teen and Adult Life Teen Core Leaders

Are you an adult who enjoys working with teenagers? Or are you already confirmed and in the 11th or 12th grade? If so, are you interested in becoming a Core Team Leader who will help with the Life Teen Sunday Night Program?

As a Core Team Adult, your primary role is to be a supportive presence for our teens. You are not expected to prepare lessons or deliver formal presentations. Instead, your key responsibilities will include:

  1. Facilitating Discussions: After our main topic presentation for the evening, teens break into small groups for discussion. Your role will be to help guide these conversations, encourage participation, and ensure everyone feels heard. We provide all the discussion prompts and guidance you’ll need – you just need to be present and engaged!
  2. Mentoring Teen Core Team Members: We also have a dedicated group of teen leaders who form part of our Core Team. As an adult, you’ll have the chance to mentor these incredible young people, offering guidance, support, and a positive example as they develop their leadership skills.
  3. Building Relationships: Most importantly, you’ll be building authentic relationships with our teens, offering them a consistent and caring adult presence in their faith journey.

This role is truly about presence, relationship-building, and fostering a safe space for teens to explore their faith. It’s a chance to walk alongside them, listen, and offer encouragement, without the pressure of being a primary teacher.

What does a Teen Core Leader do?

This isn’t about being perfect or knowing all the answers. It’s about sharing your faith, your energy, and your passion with younger teens and your peers. As a Teen Core Leader, you’ll get to:

  1. Lead Small Groups: You’ll help facilitate discussions after our talks, creating a welcoming space for younger teens to share their thoughts and grow in their understanding of the topic. We’ll give you all the prompts and guidance, so you just need to bring your listening ears and a willingness to engage!
  2. Be a Mentor & Example: You’ll be a visible role model for younger teens, showing them what it looks like to live out your faith. This includes being present, engaged, and helping to create a fun and faith-filled atmosphere.
  3. Help Plan & Execute: Get involved behind the scenes! You’ll have opportunities to help with the planning of Life Teen nights, setting up activities, welcoming new teens, and bringing your creative ideas to the table.
  4. Grow Your Own Faith: Being a leader is one of the best ways to deepen your own faith. You’ll learn more, challenge yourself, and experience the joy of serving others.

This role is all about building community, inspiring others, and continuing your own faith journey in an exciting new way. It’s a chance to put your Confirmation gifts into action!

Each Core Team Member is a vital component of our Life Teen program!

All Core Team Members are able to commit to helping the Life Teen program on Sunday evenings twice a month as scheduled.  Core Leaders will meet prior to the 5:00 Mass (at 4:00pm) for a prep meeting to go over the expectations and plan for the night.  Core Team Members will also be asked to help with our Confirmation Retreats.  We will also have mandatory quarterly Core Team meetings
